Call of Duty 8 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) is a first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, and published by Activision. It was released in November 2011 and is the eighth main installment in the Call of Duty series.
The game takes place immediately following the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as the Russian Federation continues its invasion of the United States of America. Players take on the role of various members of the military, including Delta Force operatives and the British SAS, to defend against the Russian invasion. The game features a single-player campaign, as well as multiplayer modes and survival mode.
MW3 was met with generally positive reviews, praised for its multiplayer modes and cinematic campaign. It was a commercial success, earning $1 billion within 16 days of its release. The game is also remembered for its controversial scene depicting a mass shooting in an airport, causing some countries to ban or censor the game.
